Our history

The museum is in the Dispenser’s House. This heritage listed building was built in 1909 on the PA Hospital campus and was repurposed in 2004. It is named after Contessa Diamantina Roma (Lady Bowen), who was the wife of the first governor of Queensland, Sir George Bowen.

Our work

A group of volunteers run our museum.  They collect and exhibit items that played a main role to develop healthcare.

Our collection includes medical equipment, uniforms, photographs, documents and books.

Our exhibits show different aspects of healthcare history in nursing, medicine, and how hospitals work.
