Our board is made up of non-executive directors who report to the Minister of Health. They set the strategic direction and oversee the management of our health service.

Board committees
Our board committees support the functions of the board.
Executive committee
Our Executive committee gives the board advice about its strategic and governance responsibilities.
Finance committee
Our Finance committee oversees and provides advice to the board on our financial position and performance.
It also gives advice on strategies to manage resources like technology, buildings and equipment.
Audit and Risk committee
Our Audit and Risk committee helps the board oversee:
- financial statements
- internal control structure
- internal audit function
- risk management systems
- compliance systems.
Committee members manage our contact with the Queensland Audit Office, and assess and act on external audit reports.
Safety and Quality committee
Our Safety and Quality committee helps the board with strategies to improve the safety and quality of healthcare. They give advice about our performance, governance arrangements and compliance.
They promote a culture of open and honest reporting of any situation that may change the quality of patient care.
First Nations Health Equity committee
Our First Nations Health Equity committee helps the board achieve better health for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. They give advice on:
- making health services fair and easy to use
- engaging with First Nations communities and community controlled health groups
- health measures and performance.
