Noelle Cridland

Noelle Cridland oversees the operation of our Hospital and Health Service.

In this role, she:

  • leads a staff of more than 20,000 people across hospitals, community centres and in home settings
  • manages a yearly budget of more than $3.7 billion
  • works with the Metro South Health Board and Executive to plan for the health service’s future.

Noelle is a passionate and dynamic leader who strives to create a positive healthcare experience for everyone in the community.

She knows the value of a strong, resilient and capable workforce. She aims to create a positive culture and improve the wellbeing of staff.

One of Noelle’s priorities is health equity for everyone in the Metro South region. She listens to the voices of First Nations peoples and people from diverse backgrounds.

Noelle previously worked in clinical, training and leadership positions across Queensland Health.

She’s a registered nurse and midwife and holds a Master of Nursing (Leadership).

Chief Operating Officer

Paula Foley

Paula Foley leads and directs the day to day running of our hospitals and health services. Her work involves managing our resources to optimise quality health care and business outcomes.

Paula's an accomplished health professional and senior clinician. She has extensive executive experience in healthcare in both the private and public sector.

Paula has a strong and proven track record in health service planning, performance improvement and innovation at both a state and local level.

Paula's previous roles include:

  • Acting Deputy Director-General, Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance – Queensland Health
  • Chief Operating Officer – Mater Health Service
  • Interim Chief Executive – Mackay Hospital and Health Service.

Paula has a Master in Project Management/Clinical Redesign, a Bachelor of Science (Organisational Psychology) and a Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing).

Chief People, Engagement and Research Officer

Dr Michael Cleary PSM

Dr Michael Cleary develops and manages our workforce, engagement and research strategies.

Michael has an extensive background in emergency and trauma medicine and has a long history working with Queensland Health.

He's held senior level positions on the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine Board and The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards. He also represented Queensland on the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council and the Hospitals’ Principal Committee.

Michael's previous roles include:

  • Deputy Director-General and Chief Operations Officer – Queensland Department of Health
  • President – Royal Australian College of Medical Administrators
  • Vice President – Australian Medical Association Queensland.

Chief Finance Officer

Murray Brown

Murray Brown oversees our financial operations, including our finance portfolio, procurement and supply, assets and infrastructure.

Murray's an accomplished financial executive. He's held several senior health finance roles and has high level experience managing finance and operations in large government organisations.

He's also a board director and treasurer for the Healthcare Financial Management Association of Australia. His most recent position was as Northern Territory Health's Chief Finance Officer.

Murray's a Fellow Certified Practicing Accountant (FCPA) and Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management (FACHSM).

Executive Director Medical Services

Dr Susan O’Dwyer

Dr Susan O’Dwyer provides high level strategic and operational medical leadership and advice, to ensure we're providing high quality health care and services.

As an experienced senior medical administrator, she's held several previous roles in medical workforce, education, and training.

She has a longstanding involvement with the Australian Medical Council providing:

  • accreditation activities for international medical graduate (IMG) pathways
  • prevocational accreditation
  • specialist college accreditation.

Susan also holds the following board and committee positions:

  • Censor with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators
  • Chair of the National Specialist IMG Committee of the Medical Board of Australia
  • a member of the Medical Board of Australia
  • past Chair of The Queensland Board of the Medical Board of Australia.

Susan holds a medical degree, a Master of Public Health and a fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.

Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery

Veronica Casey AM

Veronica Casey oversees our nursing and midwifery services, providing leadership and expertise.

Veronica has national and international experience in the nursing and midwifery profession, and has held executive leadership positions in Queensland Health since 1998. She's also an adjunct professor at the University of Queensland.

Her past roles include Executive Director Nursing Services at Princess Alexandra Hospital. She's also held executive and nursing roles at:

  • The Prince Charles Hospital
  • Royal Brisbane Hospital
  • Royal Women’s Hospital.

Veronica's been instrumental in setting the vision for nursing excellence at facilities taking part in American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence® programs.

She also led the launch of nursing sensitive indicators at Queensland Health, to help measure nursing performance.

Veronica is Chair of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. She's served 2 terms on the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare. She was also the first International Magnet Commissioner for the ANCC from 2010 to 2017.

Veronica was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2019.

Executive Director Allied Health

Dr Kellie Stockton

Kellie Stockton is a well respected leader in allied health with extensive experience working in public and private hospitals across Queensland and Australia.

Kellie has a strong track record in leading multidisciplinary teams, both operationally and professionally. She's experienced in the implementation and management of innovative models of care to improve access to timely and effective healthcare services.

Kellie has extensive experience in leading teams that deliver on performance outcomes, and high level project management and analytical skills.

She has strong links to the University sector and is an Honorary Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland.

Executive Director Clinical Governance, Risk and Legal

Chris Thorburn

Chris Thorburn leads the strategy and day to day management of our clinical governance, risk and compliance, and legal functions. Her role involves making sure we're complying with statutory requirements and policies, giving quality healthcare and continuously improving health service outcomes.

Chris’ career in senior and executive health management spans more than 25 years. She's managed large, diverse, acute and community health services, mental health services and health facilities.

She's also held the following senior leadership roles:

  • District Manager (CEO equivalent)
  • Local Health Network Chief Operating Officer
  • Executive Director of Mental Health
  • Executive Director of Corporate Governance and Strategy.

Chris is a Fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

She has a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Business Administration.

A/Executive Director Digital Health and Chief Information Officer

Stephen Canaris

Stephen Canaris oversees our digital health services. His role involves managing the people, processes and technology used to support digital healthcare.

Stephen has worked in digital health for more than 15 years. He has been part of transforming Metro South Health into a fully digital health service. He has also worked in project management and analytics.

Stephen is a Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Health, School of Public Health and Social Work at the Queensland University of Technology.

Executive Director Service Expansion, Strategy and Planning

Kaylene Sutherland

Kaylene Sutherland provides strategic and operational leadership to our health infrastructure expansion portfolio.

Her experience includes the planning and delivery of large scale projects and infrastructure for Queensland Health at a department and health service level.

Kaylene started her career as an emergency and a flight nurse at the Royal Brisbane Department of Emergency Medicine. She's led multidisciplinary teams for more than 30 years, giving her a strong grounding for putting health services into operation.

Kaylene has led many successful large and complex projects and programs.

Readiness and operational commissioning of:

  • Gold Coast University Hospital project and relocation of Gold Coast Hospital
  • Robina Hospital redevelopment stages 1, 2 and 3
  • Operational commissioning of the new Roma Hospital

She's also led the following progams:

  • Medical/health program for the 2018 Commonwealth Games
  • QH COVID-19 Hotel Quarantine and Isolation program.

Adam Lavis

He has a strong understanding of workforce systems and processes, and uses his expertise to embed health and safety best practices into our workplace.

Steven Jennings

Steven Jennings is our senior procurement and supply chain leader. He has more than 30 years of experience working in public health, infrastructure and engineering, and automotive manufacturing.

Steven’s high performing team strives to build on innovation, value and performance to optimise their commercial arrangements.

Mark Slade

Mark Slade manages and maintains our building, plant and construction assets, and supports the delivery of our capital projects.

He's worked in construction and maintenance for more than 20 years across the public and private sectors. His experience includes operations and commercial management.

Mark has a strong focus on asset management maturity in the health service.

Executive Director Princess Alexandra Hospital

Dr Jeremy Wellwood

Dr Jeremy Wellwood oversees the day to day operations at Princess Alexandra Hospital. He provides values-based leadership and works to improve the hospital experience for patients and staff, and has a strong commitment to health research and evidence-based practice capability.

Jeremy has 25 years of clinical experience, with a background as a Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist. His passion for leadership grew when he led the development of tertiary cancer services on the Gold Coast.

He's also held other executive roles, including:

  • Executive Director Medical Services and Chief Operations Officer – Gold Coast HHS
  • Acting Chief Executive – Cairns and Hinterland HHS.

He's completed his fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.

Executive Director Logan and Beaudesert Health Service

Anne Coccetti

Anne Coccetti oversees the day to day operations of the Logan and Beaudesert Health Service. She has an interest in person-centred care and looks for ways to improve the patient journey.

Anne has more than 25 years of experience in health service and hospital management, clinical service redesign and service planning and development. This includes expanding services at Logan Hospital, Bayside Health Service and QEII Jubilee Hospital.

Her previous roles within Metro South Hospital and Health Service include:

  • Director Allied Health – Logan Bayside Health Network
  • Acting Executive Director Allied Health – Princess Alexandra Hospital
  • Acting Executive Director Bayside Health Service
  • Executive Director QEII Hospital.

Anne has an interest in research and improving the quality of health services. Her research includes projects that evaluate the following innovative service delivery models:

  • allied health models of care
  • extended scope of practice and delegation models
  • digital health and consumer partnering.

Anne has a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Hons 1a) and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.

Executive Director Bayside Health Service

Greg Nolan

Greg Nolan oversees the day to day running of the Bayside Health Service. He’s highly experienced with leading large and complex health services, managing multidisciplinary teams and developing new models of care for health services.

Greg's worked in a range of roles with the Sydney Local Health District, including:

  • Manager Operations and Performance – Concord Repatriation General Hospital
  • General Manager – Balmain Hospital.

Greg is dedicated to safety, quality and performance, organisational engagement and culture.

Executive Director QEII Jubilee Hospital

Gillian Campbell

Gillian Campbell oversees the day to day operations at Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital.

She has experience in leading a health district through a major transition to become a national health organisation.

Gillian has held senior health management roles in Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, including:

  • Group Director of Operations – Taranaki
  • Interim Chief Executive
  • Chief Operating Officer
  • Clinical Service Manager.

Gillian has a clinical background in physiotherapy and a Master of Business Administration.

Executive Director Community and Oral Health

Lesley English

Lesley English oversees our community and oral health services. She has a wealth of experience as a leader and allied health practitioner.

Lesley has more than 35 years of experience working in clinical and management roles in the private and public sectors. She had an active role in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive Director Addiction and Mental Health Services

Kieran Kinsella

Kieran Kinsella oversees the running of our addiction and mental health services. He's passionate about supporting staff so they can innovate and create better outcomes for consumers.

He's held senior health management roles in the UK and Australia, including:

  • mental health advisory roles
  • Head of Mental Health Services – South East England
  • Executive Director position – Central Queensland HHS.

Kieran has managed a broad range of services, including mental health, oral health, public health and aged care, and has led several successful projects, including:

  • an acute care service model where unwell patients could get care in their homes, with less use of inpatient beds
  • working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to develop programs for their community.

Kieran trained as a mental health nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. He also has a Masters qualification.
