Respiratory specialist Dr Claire Ellender is the first clinician in Metro South Health to use Ambient AI Scribe in the roll out across the health service.
Ambient AI Scribe listens to patient consultations without recording and generates clinical notes and documentation.
The scribe is being rolled out across Metro South Health over the coming months.
Clinicians are already using the tool in private practice and are thrilled to offer it in the public health service.
Dr Claire and her patients are already seeing the benefits of this innovative technology.
“As clinicians we can learn so much about our patients through non-verbal communication,” said Dr Claire.
“Eye contact and connection throughout the consultation is part of excellent health care.”
Patients have been keen to use the scribe and enjoyed connecting directly with Dr Claire, rather than watching her type notes.
Clinicians have reported high quality patient interactions and a reduction in the administrative load.
“The scribe allows me to capture more information during the consultation and focus on value-adds like preventative health care for my patients,” said Dr Claire.
“I am saving hours of time in non-clinical work with the scribe, and it’s streamlined communication with other clinicians."
Metro South Health continues to be drive digital innovation and is the largest health service in Queensland to implement Ambient AI Scribe.
"I’m very proud to work at a health service committed to utilising technology to improve the patient experience,” Dr Claire said.
“Our students are learning from clinicians using cutting edge technology and becoming our best future colleagues at Metro South Health.”
