We already know how busy our hard-working maternity team is delivering and caring for more than 4000 babies every year.
But 35 babies born in 38 hours was taking things to a whole new level!
From the team in MAC, to our midwives and doctors in Birth Suites and MIU, our neonatal nurses and doctors in the NIU and all the amazing support staff - it was all hands on deck recently when babies right across Logan decided it was time to make their entrance.
After initially starting the significant tally at 24 babies born in 24 hours, the team decided to stop at 35 births.
Nursing and Midwifery Director Marg Wendt said the Logan Hospital Maternity team, that included doctors, midwives, nurses, administration, allied health and operational teams, were proud to be part of the journey for parents when they welcomed a new baby.
"It never gets old for us, and we always think it’s a privilege to see and be a part of this special time," she said. "At Logan Hospital we are proud of every member of this team, and value that the doctors and midwives are just as excited for the family, giving the same exceptional care, regardless of if it’s the first baby for the day or the 24th."
Marg said historically the busiest birthing months were March and September but as the Logan community continued to grow with more young families, Logan Hospital was seeing more babies born each month across the whole year.
"As our community and service grows we are excited to welcome more midwives and doctors, including more opportunities for students and graduates," she said. "We look forward to continuing to provide high quality, compassionate and contemporary care to our community."
Well done team on a huge effort and on being a special part of helping to grow Logan's population by a whole school class of the future in just a couple of days!
