Two very proud little locals have won our latest Name the Crane competition, with their creative entry ‘Big Bird’ now set to fly high above the hospital skyline.
Siblings Taylor and Jayce are well known to the hospital, with three-year-old Jayce receiving ongoing treatment for a congenital heart condition since he was a baby.
The family regularly enters hospital competitions, but this is the first time they’ve taken home the win, leaving six-year-old Taylor beside herself with excitement at the news.
Grandmother Nikky said both children were delighted to hear they’d won, sharing that Taylor was so excited she struggled to fall asleep the night before they were due to collect their prize.
The winning name will be proudly displayed on the crane as it helps build Logan Hospital’s newest multi-level carpark.
When asked how they came up with the name Big Bird, Taylor shyly explained it was ‘because it’s big and looks like a bird in the sky’.
