Logan and Beaudesert Health Services' Clinical Supervision Program is strengthening workforce wellbeing through a new collaborative partnership focused on Resilience Based Clinical Supervision (RBCS).
Clinical Supervision Coordinator Paula Cunliffe explained RBCS as a restorative, facilitated reflective practice that supported healthcare professionals to process the emotional demands of their work, reduce burnout and build resilience.
She said the partnership between Gold Coast University Hospital, LBHS and Community and Oral Health supported the ongoing development of RBCS and provided a practical and supportive approach for staff.
“RBCS creates space for reflection in the midst of demanding clinical environments,” Paula said.
“It provides a safe, structured space for clinicians to reflect on the emotional aspects of their work, which can often be overlooked in busy clinical environments. The process helps build capability over time.
“By working through real experiences together, clinicians are better able to process challenges, reduce stress and build confidence in their practice,” Paula said.
Recently, GCUH hosted LBHS and COH representatives to observe a live RBCS session with mental health graduate nurses transitioning into practice, highlighting how reflective supervision supports early career clinicians and strengthens the wider workforce.
LBHS is also planning to introduce RBCS groups in the near future as part of its continued commitment to staff wellbeing, psychological safety and a sustainable workforce.
