Multicultural Awards highlight extraordinary cultural based care

The second annual LBHS Multicultural Awards attracted a record 18 outstanding nominations, each highlighting an extraordinary commitment to multicultural healthcare.

The judging panel had their work cut out for them as they sorted through the remarkable initiatives being undertaken across the organisation, eventually choosing two individual award winners and two team award winners.

Erynn McAuley was recognised for her work with Pasifika and Māori communities and her leadership in developing a culturally safe, person-centred kidney program.

Dr Shantha Raghwan was recognised for championing culturally safe care for Pasifika patients and communities, including through the ED Pasifika Health Equity Project.

The Maternity Group Practice – Gateway/SSI team was recognised for its work creating a welcoming and culturally safe environment for culturally and linguistically diverse and refugee families.

The Logan Rehabilitation Ward was recognised for going above and beyond to host an inpatient citizenship ceremony, ensuring a patient could celebrate an important milestone while in hospital.
