Beaudesert Hospital has received a deeply meaningful gift from a local artist

Beaudesert Hospital has received a very special gift as a token of appreciation for its work with the local First Nations community.

The hand-carved and hand-painted didgeridoo was gifted by local artist and community leader, Kelvin Cattlin.

Kelvin crafted the instrument alongside local men who attended the inaugural Art and Healing Group, founded and run by him and Beaudesert’s own Dave Bestmann.

In a moving moment, Kelvin presented the didgeridoo to Prof Shane Brun on behalf of the hospital, in recognition of the partnership between health services and the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

The didgeridoo will soon be displayed at Beaudesert Hospital to stand as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when culture, connection, and community lead the way in healing.
