Beaudesert Hospital’s Christian Kovac is embracing the opportunity to build his nursing career in a rural setting.
The Graduate Registered Nurse is based in Brisbane but was drawn to working outside the city after completing his two final placements at Emerald Hospital in western Queensland.
Christian said he enjoyed making the commute to Beaudesert each day, with the breathtaking scenery and close-knit community among the many benefits of working outside a major city.
As part of Metro South Health’s Graduate Nursing Program, Christian spent the first half of the year working in Beaudesert’s General Ward and will spend the remainder of the year in the Emergency Department (ED).
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the General Ward team and I’m now enjoying experiencing all the ED has to offer,” he said. “I’m looking forward to helping people and their families while continuing to build my skills, knowledge and experience and discovering where a career in healthcare can take me.”
Christian recently shared his experience with aspiring graduates at the LBHS Nursing and Midwifery Graduate Open Day, encouraging students to make the most of the support available to them.
“Take any and every opportunity you can within your studies, as there is a massive amount of support allowing you to do so,” he said. “There is so much available to healthcare workers, including multiple career pathways and incredibly varying positions.”
For Christian, being part of the Beaudesert Hospital team is just the beginning of what he hopes will be a rewarding career helping patients and making a difference to the community.
