QEII Hospital’s Room Service Project team celebrated another milestone this September, after the Dietetics and Food Services teams claimed the quarterly QEII Hospital Team Values Award.
The multidisciplinary team are acknowledged for their exemplary teamwork, collaboration, and professionalism throughout the Room Service On Demand project launch.
“I think it demonstrates our commitment and willingness to put in the hard yards to innovate the meal service at QEII while keeping it accessible,” said Nutrition Assistant Skye Bernier, who credits the multidisciplinary team effort behind the scenes.
Director Nutrition and Dietetics, Sally Courtice echoed the sentiment, highlighting the team’s professionalism and dedication to patient-centred improvements at every stage of the project.
“I think it demonstrates the importance of patient-centred care, and our commitment to the fundamentals of care as an organisation. If you don't do the fundamental things well, that'll be the one thing everyone remembers," she explained.
“If you do it well and use that interprofessional team collaboration, the patient experience is a lot better and leads to improved outcomes."
Rigorous consumer partnering, technical project support and allied health input combined to deliver an efficient, timely food ordering service that's tailored to each patient's needs.
“What's important to patients is inclusion in their care and food. We know that from many interviews and from their experience,” Skye explained.
“We have a great interdisciplinary team. There's a lot of respect and knowledge and it's about everyone always coming back to the question, how does this impact the patient? Working collectively with that mindset helps us tackle problems to find solutions.”
Congratulations to the whole multidisciplinary team on the launch of the Room Service model.
