Queen Elizabeth II Hospital’s multi-level car park (P1) opened ahead of schedule providing the long-awaited boost to parking solutions for the busy campus.

The new car park opened on 3 November 2026, providing over 1,000 spaces for patients, visitors and staff.

Ward 4B Nurse Unit Manager, Kelly Rose, had the honour of being the first car in the new parking structure.

“It’s exciting to see the car park open, providing increased parking capacity for staff," Kelly said.

"The undercover parking and convenient location closer to the hospital are added benefits."

"The easy access and lift facilities are also fantastic for patients and families."

Executive Director, Rachel Phillips said the opening was a significant boost for patients, families and staff who have shown resilience and dedication throughout the works program.

She said QEII Hospital’s expansion is the most significant construction for the hospital since the Emergency Department expansion over a decade ago with the campus now completely transformed.

“It is exciting for the QEII Community to now have this parking solution with stage 1 providing over 1000 car parks to patients, families and staff," she said.

“The new car park significantly boosts car parking capacity and will save time for patients, visitors and staff coming to the hospital.”

“We know what patients and staff want is immediate parking relief and ahead of the new Clinical Services building.”

Safety is front of mind within the parking complex, including safe walking routes, safety lighting, duress alarms and CCTV.

The space also features end-of-trip facilities, bike spaces, showers and lockers for staff.
