QEII Hospital has onboarded 25 graduate nurses in the first of three graduate intake rounds this year.
Hitting the ground running on 30 January, the new grads are currently on rotation across the hospital under the expert guidance of QEII’s Graduate Support Team and senior nurses who will work alongside them over the next twelve months.
QEII Graduate Support Program Coordinator and Nurse Educator, Renee Langridge said the graduate year is formative in a nurse’s career.
“The graduate year can feel like a steep mountain to climb, but when they look back on it in time, the grads will see it’s just a blip on the horizon. They will realise how far they’ve come, and although it was hard at the time, they will have learned so much and they’ll be better for it," Renee said.
Registered Nurse Maeve graduated from Griffith University and is working on Ward 5A, where she is getting hands-on experience in the General Medicine ward.
“I'm super excited to consolidate my skills and be part of a really supportive team as I take the next step in my career,” she said.
“I’m also excited to be at QEII with the expansion underway and all the new things happening here over the next few years.”
Fellow graduate Macy completed her USIN training at PA Hospital and is now immersing herself in practical training at QEII Emergency.
“It’s a short amount of time to connect with patients, but it’s about making them feel comfortable and helping them open up. I’m excited to keep learning and growing and becoming the best nurse I can be.
“I’m really looking forward to my journey at QEII.”
We wish the 2026 cohort a warm welcome and a successful graduate year ahead!
