QEII’s Pharmacy Department is putting innovation in the spotlight, after four of six submitted abstracts were accepted for presentation at the National Medicines Management Conference 2025 (MM 2025); the highest number of acceptances the department has ever achieved.

“The Medicines Management Conference is the pinnacle of hospital pharmacy conferences each year,” explained Pharmacy Director, Natalie Tasker.

After chairing the conference scientific committee twice in previous years, Natalie’s enthusiasm for contributing to research inspired her team to also get involved.

“Over 1,000 delegates from hospital pharmacies around Australia come together to connect, share ideas and collaborate. We're really excited to be taking a team down to Melbourne to be able to experience MM 2025,” she said.

This year’s conference marks a major milestone for the department, with a record number of team members attending and contributing to the national showcase of pharmacy innovation and excellence.

“It's a fantastic recognition of the hard work that the team have been putting in over the last 12 months,” said Senior Pharmacist and Clinical Educator, Rebecca Judd.

“This is the highest attendance we’ve ever had at an MM Conference. To have six abstracts submitted and four accepted is truly amazing, particularly for a department of our size.”

With innovation, collaboration, and dedication at the heart of their success, QEII’s Pharmacy team is ready to make their mark on the national stage.

“We have been really encouraging the team to think differently about the ways we work, to implement new ideas and measure the improvement. The acceptance of four abstracts is a fantastic recognition of the many hours of work that our pharmacists have been putting into their roles.”

All four accepted posters will be displayed throughout the conference, with the team in the running for awards including Best Poster and Best Presenter.

“It's really great that the four posters that we have cover not just clinical pharmacy practice but also new models of service delivery and quality improvement initiatives that we've rolled out over the last 12 months,” Rebecca added.
