For the first time, Addiction and Mental Health Services (AMHS) has welcomed a Graduate Officer through the Department of the Premier and Cabinet's Leadership Program in Public Administration.
The Graduate Program is designed as a launchpad for a meaningful and impactful career within the Queensland Government, providing participants with valuable experience across a range of public sector environments.
Ian Zhong said it’s been a valuable experience in seeing how much work happens behind the scenes for Hospital and Health Services to run smoothly.
“I’ve really enjoyed the wide variety of work I could contribute to. Whether it was supporting meetings, organising forums, or editing SharePoint pages, no two weeks were the quite the same,” he said.
“My supervisor Jayne Hackett has been amazing in supporting my learning, and I feel very lucky to have been placed here for my first rotation.”
Executive Projects & Administration Lead Jayne Hackett said AMHS has been delighted to host Ian.
“During his time with us, he’s made an outstanding contribution to the service, demonstrating professionalism, initiative, and a strong commitment to learning,” she said.
“His contributions have added significant value to the team while further developing his skills and understanding of public administration.”
As Ian moves on to his second rotation in the program, he takes with him broader experience and valuable insights gained at AMHS.
