QEII Hospital is celebrating excellence this month, after Colorectal Clinical Nurse Consultant Sharon Price was named Australasia’s best Colorectal Nurse 2026 by the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ).
With over 20 years of experience including 12 at QEII Hospital, Sharon is honoured for professional excellence, and her exemplary commitment to patient-centred care in her field.
Known for her wealth of nursing knowledge, exemplary compassion and empathy, and willingness to assist colleagues, Sharon is a beloved member of the colorectal surgical team, and a dedicated advocate for enhancing care for colorectal patients.
“I look forward to seeing more expansion in our service, so that a wider group of people can have better access to care,” Sharon said.
Sharon’s colleagues are celebrating her prestigious win, adding another accolade to her 2023 Internation Nurses Day Excellence Award.
“We are very proud of Sharon for receiving this award,” said QEII Surgeon, Dr Chris Gillespie.
“It speaks to the hard work, commitment and professionalism she has put into QEII patients for over ten years. Sharon moves mountains to provide patient-centred and specialised care,” he said.
The CSSANZ Professional Excellence Nurses Award honours and recognises registered nurses who demonstrate exceptional professional excellence, continuous professional development, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment within a colorectal team.
Sharon will accept her award this October at CSSANZ’s annual award ceremony in Cairns.
