PA Hospital’s Occupational Therapy team is proving they’re a cut above in more ways than one, with staff members putting their luscious locks on the line for charity.
They signed up for the World’s Greatest Shave to help raise funds and awareness for blood cancer and fuel life-changing research projects.
Occupational Therapist Calum Rutter said the call was put out for participants and there was no shortage of enthusiasm.
“We had numerous OTs put their hands up and we set a goal to raise $5,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation,” he said.
“We were blown away by everyone’s generosity and ended up raising more than $7,500 which is fantastic!”
With the money raised, there was only one thing left to do…
On Friday 27 March the clippers came out, a crowd gathered, and the OTs bravely shaved their heads to show their support for patients living with blood cancer.
“A few of us are probably still getting used to the cool breeze on our heads! But it’s a reminder of contributing to something bigger than ourselves,” said Calum.
“Our team really is extraordinary, and this is just one of the ways we can support patients beyond the bedside.”
A big congratulations to the OT team on this inspiring effort!
