To celebrate Queensland Mental Health Week, the Leisure and Recreation team, together with Allied Health, rolled out a creative celebration of connection through art.
Consumers in Logan Hospital’s mental health wards designed and decorated skateboards, each representing a personal story, creative expression, and the theme of “connection.” The vibrant boards were displayed as part of a collaborative exhibition, symbolising how art can bring people together and strengthen wellbeing.
More than just decorated objects, the skateboards serve as powerful reminders that creativity, belonging, and community are central to mental health recovery. The project offered participants a meaningful outlet to express themselves, build confidence, and connect with others through shared experiences.
This year’s theme resonates deeply with the work of the Leisure and Recreation team, whose focus is on fostering relationships and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement.
Special thanks go to the teams from Logan Hospital, AAPU, Pastoral Care, and the MSAMHS Disaster Recovery Unit for their creativity and collaboration across sites.
Together, these initiatives celebrate the healing power of connection in supporting mental health and wellbeing.
