Anthony Auditore has been crowned this year’s International Nurses Day Magnet Champion of the Year, and there’s even more reason to celebrate in 2024.
The impressive accolade falls on the 20-year anniversary of The Princess Alexandra Hospital being the first hospital in the Southern Hemisphere to receive the prestigious 'Magnet' designation for excellence in nursing care.
The significance of the award, and its history is certainly not lost on Anthony.
He has a special connection to Magnet Recognition program which empowers nursing through creating a culture that values clinician participation in decision making, transparent review of work practices and support for personal and professional development with a focus on evidence based patient outcomes.
“I’ve worked in Magnet hospitals both here at the PA and during my time working in New York, so I’ve always worked with a great bunch of nurses supported by the framework.
“The nurses are a success because they have a strong framework to base their practice on,” he said.
Anthony’s remarkable career began as a Registered Nurse since 2001 and he went on to achieve his Master of Nursing, excelling in a variety of leadership roles.
After decades in healthcare, his passion for helping others hasn’t waivered and he feels incredibly honoured to be recognised for his hard work.
“I’m so very proud of all the nurses and really grateful to be chosen as Magnet Champion for 2024,” he said.
Congratulations to Anthony on this well-deserved achievement, 20 years in the making.
