Individuals and teams across Logan Hospital have shown their generosity in a big way, filling 40 bags with essential products to support women doing it tough.
Throughout July, the Social Work team led the Share the Dignity It’s in the Bag charity drive, with plenty of staff getting behind the initiative and donating everyday essentials including deodorant, toothpaste and soap.
Social Work Team Leader Susy Transom said the response had been outstanding.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to our clinics for their support and donations,” she said.
The It’s in the Bag initiative aims to restore a sense of dignity, self-worth and comfort to women and children experiencing difficult circumstances, with each donated bag providing practical essentials and a reminder that someone cares.
Inspired by the Social Work team, RN Jacinta Waters also ran a drive in the Transit Care Hub, collecting feminine hygiene products and other toiletries for women experiencing vulnerability.
These donations are a wonderful example of how our people come together to support our community.
And if you missed this year’s drive, there’s another opportunity to get involved, with the Social Work team’s annual Christmas donation drive coming later this year.
