Millions of dollars are being invested into research at Logan and Beaudesert hospitals as part of a growing commitment to innovation, evidence-based care and improving health outcomes for the community.
Over the past two years alone, more than $2.5 million in research funding has been managed across the two sites, supporting dozens of projects led by local clinicians or in collaboration with external partners.
Logan and Beaudesert hospital’s Executive Director Anne Coccetti said the significant investment supported a thriving research culture within the health service.
“Thirty-five research projects were approved last year and another 24 have already this year,” Anne said.
“Research is at the heart of how we grow and how we improve and develop exceptional care. It’s also a vital part of our future as we continue to expand and develop services for our wonderful community.”
The wave of research activity was recently celebrated at the hospitals’ annual Research Symposium, where staff were recognised for the passion and effort they brought to their projects.
The event was well-attended by staff, partners and supporters including QUT, Griffith University, University of Southern Queensland, MSH SERTA, and Metro South Research.
This year’s theme, "Celebrating Collaboration: Advancing Research Together", highlighted the power of partnerships in driving innovation and improving patient outcomes.
With further grants now open, Metro South Health’s research future is set to grow even stronger, reinforcing its vision of creating Australia’s healthiest community.
"Fostering a culture of continuous learning, interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based care is what we need to do to transform how we provide healthcare services in the future and also to prevent disease before it starts," Anne said.
