Sam and Nick celebrate Charlie's 100 day birthday

Charlie Jones, Queensland’s smallest-ever newborn, has celebrated his 100-day milestone with Logan Hospital’s neonatal team.

The mini miracle made history last year when he was born more than three months early, weighing just 360 grams - less than a can of soft drink.

Charlie spent his first 83 days receiving round-the-clock care in the Mater’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit before being transferred to Logan Hospital’s Neonatal Inpatient Unit (NIU), where the team has continued to provide specialised care and support to Charlie and his amazing parents, Samantha and Nick.

The Crestmead locals were delighted to mark the milestone and shared the exciting news that they were expecting to take their son home for the first time just hours after the celebration.

Reflecting on the past 100 days, Sam and Nick said they had remained in awe of their “cheeky” little fighter through every high and low.

“In the beginning he was so delicate that we couldn’t even hold his hand without risking breaking his skin,” Nick said. “Now he loves holding our hands, and also loves his head being tickled.”

The first-time parents thanked the teams at both the Mater and Logan Hospital for their exceptional care and support.

From all of us at Logan Hospital congratulations to Charlie and his family on this incredible milestone, and best wishes as you begin your next chapter at home.
