Rochedale State High School’s Liberty Wainwright has taken the first step towards a career in healthcare.
The Year 12 student has joined Logan Hospital through an administration traineeship.
Keen to work in a hospital environment, Liberty said the traineeship was the perfect opportunity to build new skills while gaining valuable experience in the health sector.
“I’ve always wanted to work in a hospital, and I enjoy the idea of helping people,” she said.
“Healthcare is one of the few environments where you can genuinely make a difference every day, and I love working as part of a team.”
Although still early in her traineeship, the experience has already provided valuable insight into how a hospital operates.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside environmental services and spend time in the wards, which has helped me understand how everything works day to day,” she said.
Liberty said the team had been welcoming and supportive and she looked forward to continuing to learn throughout the traineeship.
The School Based Traineeship Program continues to give young people across the Metro South region the opportunity to explore health careers, build practical skills and discover their passion – all while still at school. Traineeships are available across patient support services, food services, dental, nursing and allied health assistants.
