LEADS High Risk Podiatry Team

The LEADS High-Risk Foot Service has officially stepped into the spotlight, receiving a major accreditation award.

Since starting in September 2022 with just two team members and no dedicated space, the service has grown into a full interdisciplinary team - podiatry, infectious diseases, endocrinology, orthopaedics, vascular, dietetics, social work, and psychology - all working together to provide top-notch care for people with diabetes across the Logan and Beaudesert catchment.

“This award is an important recognition of the dedication and collaboration our team has invested to build the interprofessional, high-risk foot service that our community deserves,” said Megan Nevin, Advance Podiatrist Clinical Lead LEADS podiatry team.

“Guided by national standards of excellence, we embedded these principles into our service design and planning to ensure best practice from the outset."

This service not only cares for our local community, but across Queensland extending their face-to-face and telehealth reach to rural and remote sites in West Moreton Hospital and Health Service, Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service and South West Hospital and Health Service.

"Receiving this award is not only a prestigious acknowledgment of what we’ve achieved, but also a marker of the path forward, shaping what the next decade of high-risk foot care will look like for both local and rural communities across Queensland.”

“This award recognises the dedication and teamwork that went into building a service our community truly deserves,” she said.  “It’s a huge milestone and a great reminder that collaboration really works.”

With permanent funding secured and plans to keep growing, this award isn’t just a win for the team, it’s a win for the community, paving the way for innovative, patient-focused care for years to come.
