Logan Hospital has officially launched a new video resource for its Muslim patients, celebrating its commitment to culturally inclusive care during the holy month of Ramadan.

Developed by Metro South Health’s Health Equity and Access Team (HEAT) in partnership with Logan Hospital’s Food Services team, the video takes viewers behind the scenes of halal food preparation.

From sourcing ingredients through to storage, handling and serving, it provides transparent reassurance that meals meet both religious requirements and nutritional standards.

The launch builds on a project that has already earned significant recognition. In November last year, the teams were honoured with a prestigious Metro South Health Gala Award for delivering a culturally responsive food service improvement initiative that has positioned Logan Hospital as a leader in inclusive care.

The award recognised not only the practical improvements achieved, but also the team’s strong commitment to meaningful community partnerships and cultural safety for patients.

Principal Health Equity Officer Sebastian Brignano said Ramadan was a meaningful time to reflect on the project’s impact.

“Ramadan is an especially important time for many of our patients and community members,” he said. “Providing clear, transparent information about how halal meals are prepared helps strengthen trust and ensures patients feel safe and respected while in our care.”

As Ramadan is observed across the community, the hospital celebrates both the spirit of the season and the early success of a resource that reflects its ongoing commitment to safe, respectful and inclusive care for all.
