Just weeks after celebrating their one-year anniversary, the team at the Mt Gravatt Nurse-Led Walk-In Clinic (NLWIC) has reached another major milestone - caring for their 10,000th patient.
Since opening in October last year, thousands of locals have visited the clinic for timely clinical assessment, treatment, and advice, delivered entirely by qualified nursing staff.
Nurse Unit Manager Emily Pickup said the milestones reflected both the needs of the local community and the growing role of nurses in healthcare.
“These achievements are a meaningful milestone for the local community and a proud moment for the nursing profession,” she said. “Nursing is evolving rapidly and the nurse-led model has strengthened the profession and expanded the ways care is delivered to our community.”
She added that the Mt Gravatt NLWIC was the only walk-in clinic in Metro South Health where patients were seen autonomously by an advanced practice nurse.
“We are proud to provide accessible care closer to home, not only through the NLWIC but also at the Eight Mile Plains Satellite Health Centre,” she said.
As the clinic heads into its second year, it is set to expand its services to meet the ever-changing needs of the community.
A Reproductive Health Clinic will soon be available by appointment, and the team also hopes to lead an exciting research project alongside the Office of the Chief Nurse and QUT.
With these milestones behind them and exciting plans ahead, the Mt Gravatt NLWIC team looks forward to another year of delivering accessible, high-quality care to the community.
