Research partnerships
Mozzie SHIELDS
Mozzie SHIELDS (Strengthening Health through Integrated Engagement and Learning in Disease Surveillance) is a community science project that aims to improve how we detect mosquitoes and the viruses they carry. It brings together researchers and community members to help identify mosquito threats before they spread.
The project is a partnership between QIMR Berghofer, Metro South Health, Brisbane South State Secondary College (BSSSC), Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the Queensland community.
PORTS
PORTS (Precision Optimisation for Resilient Targeted Surveillance) is a research project that aims to improve how citizen scientists can help to detect and control invasive mosquitoes before they can spread diseases in our urban environments. It focuses on Brisbane airports and seaports, and suburbs within 15km of Brisbane Seaport where invasive mosquitoes from overseas may enter Australia.
The project is a partnership between QIMR Berghofer, Metro South Health and the University of California, Berkeley.
