Health Service Chief Executive

Noelle Cridland

Noelle Cridland oversees the strategic direction and operations of our Hospital and Health Service.

In this role, she:

  • leads a staff of more than 21,500 people across hospitals, community centres and in home settings
  • manages a yearly budget of more than $4 billion
  • works with the Metro South Health Board and Executive to respond to emerging healthcare challenges and plan for the health service’s future.

Noelle is committed to providing safe, high quality healthcare for the community.

She values a strong, resilient and capable workforce and aims to create a positive culture that supports staff wellbeing.

One of Noelle’s priorities is health equity for everyone in the Metro South region. She listens to the voices of First Nations peoples and people from diverse backgrounds to help improve health outcomes and access to care.

Noelle previously worked in clinical, education and leadership positions across Queensland Health.

She’s a registered nurse and midwife and holds a Master of Nursing (Leadership).

A/Chief Operating Officer

Kieran Kinsella

Kieran Kinsella leads the executive teams across five hospitals, Community and Oral Health, and Addiction and Mental Health Services.

He is responsible for improving performance, using resources effectively, and supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare.

Kieran is passionate about supporting staff to innovate and improve outcomes for consumers.

He was most recently the Executive Director of Metro South Health’s Addiction and Mental Health Services.

He has also held senior health management roles in Australia and the United Kingdom, including Head of Mental Health Services in South East England and an Executive Director role in Central Queensland HHS.

Kieran has experience managing a broad range of services, including mental health, oral health, public health and aged care. He has led projects to deliver care in the home and worked with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to develop local programs.

Kieran trained as a mental health nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and holds a Masters qualification.

A/Chief Finance and Sustainability Officer

Kira Lee

Kira Lee is responsible for Metro South Health’s financial and sustainability functions, including the finance portfolio, health information management, environmental sustainability, procurement and supply, and assets and infrastructure.

Kira is an experienced finance executive and Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) with more than 15 years’ experience in Queensland’s public healthcare sector. She has expertise in driving financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, forecasting, and strategic leadership across large and complex health services.

She was most recently the Senior Finance Director for Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she provided strategic oversight of financial operations, reporting, governance, and budget management, while contributing as a member of the hospital’s executive leadership team.

Kira holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), and has completed the University of Queensland’s Emerging Executive Leadership Program.

Chief People and Partnerships Officer

Adam Lavis

Adam Lavis oversees our strategic and operational human resource functions, strategic partnerships and our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Directorate.

He is an experienced human resources professional with a background in the healthcare industry.

He has led Metro South Health through significant change and has played a key role in strengthening our workforce capability, safety systems, culture and partnerships.

Adam was previously Metro South Health’s Executive Director of Human Resources.

Chief Clinical Information Officer

Stephen Canaris

Stephen Canaris oversees our digital health services. His role involves managing the people, processes and technology used to support digital healthcare.

Stephen has worked in digital health for more than 15 years. He has been part of transforming Metro South Health into a fully digital health service. He has also worked in project management and analytics.

Stephen is a Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Health, School of Public Health and Social Work at the Queensland University of Technology.

Chief Research and Innovation Officer

Associate Professor Helen Benham

Helen Benham leads the strategic translation of research and innovation into better healthcare access, experience, and outcomes for our community.

She is an experienced rheumatologist, researcher, and clinician with an extensive background in clinical practice at Princess Alexandra Hospital and in senior research roles.

Her previous leadership roles include:

  • senior executive roles at Translational Research Institute and PA Research Foundation
  • member of the Metro South Hospital and Health Board
  • board chair for Arthritis Queensland.

Helen holds a PhD and medical degrees, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, has a fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and is an associate professor at the University of Queensland.
