QEII Graduate Nurse and Clinical Placements Coordinator Renee Langridge has been named Metro South Health’s Excellence in Education Award winner at this year’s International Nurses Day Awards, recognising more than a decade of dedication to developing our next generation of nurses.
Working within the Nursing Practice Development Unit (NPDU), Renee leads the QEII Graduate and Student Nurse Portfolio, overseeing clinical placements for students and Deadly Start Trainees, as well as the coordination and delivery of the Graduate nurse program including transition support, education, and assessment across the hospital.
Since joining the portfolio in 2015, she has created a safe, inclusive and psychologically supportive learning environment where nurses feel encouraged to ask questions, embrace challenges and continue learning throughout their careers.
For Renee, the most rewarding part of her role is helping novice nurses build the confidence and skills they need to thrive in the profession.
“Supporting graduate and student nurses through their transition into practice is a privilege and a responsibility I value deeply. It’s a formative time where encouragement, structure and support can make all the difference.
“Watching them develop into confident, capable clinicians and valued members of the workforce is incredibly rewarding and remains the most fulfilling part of my role,” Renee said.
Her approach combines evidence-based education, innovative teaching strategies and a strong focus on wellbeing, ensuring graduates are supported not only clinically, but personally as they navigate the demands of nursing.
Colleagues describe Renee as approachable, supportive and deeply invested in the success of every graduate and student nurse who comes through the program.
Through her leadership, Renee has strengthened collaboration across disciplines, contributed to a positive learning culture and helped develop resilient, work-ready clinicians who deliver high-quality patient care.
Congratulations Renee on this well-deserved recognition and thank you for your ongoing commitment to excellence in education.
