Better breaks coming to Allied Health

Plans to procure easily accessible, sun-safe outdoor seating to go adjacent the Allied Health building have been funded through the QEII Hospital Fund’s inaugural grant round.

Successful applicant, Occupational Therapist, Jane Chiu, said she was motivated to apply so her colleagues could have better breaks.

“With this grant, staff will have more access to outdoor dining options,” Jane said.

“Studies have shown taking regular breaks lead to higher productivity, engagement, and job satisfaction, and lower incidences of workplace accidents and burnout.

“Research also demonstrates the importance of spending time outdoors to reduce stress, improve mood and focus, and enhance sleep quality and immune function.”

Jane said the funding will also benefit patients by enhancing the allied health team’s ability to deliver quality care.

“Better breaks means better staff wellbeing, which means better care for everyone.”

Congratulations Jane!
