Clinicians keen to explore opportunities at PA Hospital attended the Nursing Recruitment Open Day on 8 October, gaining valuable insight into a career at one of Queensland’s largest tertiary hospitals.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with staff across a variety of units and divisions, giving attendees the chance to learn about a wide range of specialties.

Emergency Department A/NUM Moz was proud to share what makes the PAH ED such a rewarding place to work.

"We are looking for nurses to come join our team because we are amazing," she said.

"Emergency nurses all support each other and we look after each other."

ED Nurse Educator Mel said the variety of patients and learning opportunities available are a major drawcard for nurses looking to grow their careers.

"I love the team, the acuity and the complexity. ED offers diverse experiences and learning opportunities every day," Mel said.

"Our crew love coming to work to look after some of the sickest patients in Queensland."

Mitch from the Permanent Nurse Pool said there’s never been a better time to join the biggest nursing pool in Metro South.

"We are placed across all 36 wards here at PA Hospital, everywhere from mental health to ED, so we have quite a big reach and exposure to the specialties across the organisation.

"We support everybody to be the best professional they can be, in and outside of the hospital, and we're very proud of what we do."

Trixie and Jenna were among the attendees eager to learn more about PAH.

"We've been looking to get into Queensland Health for a long time now, so being at this Open Day was really good," they said.

"When we saw this promoted on Instagram we were excited and said we have to go."

Attendee Sarah, an Enrolled Nurse of 10 years who is soon to graduate as a Registered Nurse, said the event opened her eyes to new possibilities.

"I thought why not come and check out a nice tertiary hospital, so this event has been quite cool," she said.

"I got to learn about the MAPU and the Secure Unit. There was a lovely nurse at that stall who was giving me an education session on those areas, which I thought was really interesting."
