Today marks one year since the Meadowbrook Health Centre Minor Injury and Illness Clinic opened, providing high-quality care to thousands of people across the community.
The clinic was established to help ease pressure on Logan Hospital's busy Emergency Department (ED) by providing same-day, walk-in treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses.
A/Nursing Director and Facility Manager Emily Pickup said she was proud to celebrate the milestone with her colleagues and reflect on the clinic's achievements over the past 12 months.
During its first year, the clinic has become a registered immunisation provider, strengthening its ability to respond to public health needs, including delivering vaccination clinics in partnership with the Metro South Public Health Unit.
Additionally, the facility has recently welcomed the Paediatric Rapid Access Clinic, improving access to care for young patients while freeing up valuable clinical space within Logan Hospital's ED.
In collaboration with the ED, the team has also helped develop an ED-to-Meadowbrook Health Centre redirection model, ensuring lower-acuity patients can receive timely care in the most appropriate setting.
"It's incredibly rewarding to look back on how much we've achieved in just one year," Emily said. "These milestones reflect the dedication of our team and our shared commitment to providing timely, high-quality care for the community."
Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to the clinic's successful first year.
