Three Queensland Clinical Guidelines relating to maternity and neonatal care have recently been updated.
The Pregnant Women Living in Larger Bodies and Post Bariatric Surgery guideline includes updated guidance on weight stigma, nutritional support, healthy lifestyle, trauma informed care, obstructive sleep apnoea, and GLP-1 receptor agonist use.
The Preterm Labour and Birth guideline includes updated guidance on preconception and antenatal risk factors, plus the value of cervical length measurement between 16 and 24 weeks.
The Establishing Breastfeeding guideline includes new breastfeeding cautions in a range of clinical circumstances, including HTLV-1 and HTLV-2, HIV, active untreated tuberculosis and active varicella with breast lesions; it also includes upgraded guidance on methods of expressing breastmilk, dummy (pacifier) use, and syphilis and breastfeeding.
