Logan’s Youth Step Up Step Down (SUSD) Service has attracted significant interest from community and not-for-profit youth organisations as evidenced by a recent networking event that saw double the usual number of RSVPs.

The Logan Youth Network (LYN) meeting was hosted by the Woodridge facility last month, with the crowd of 80 making it the unit’s largest in-house gathering to date.

Members of the network supported by Logan City Council, expressed their eagerness to connect with the SUSD team and gain insights into the support they offered local youth.

Team Leader Vivienne Braddock said her team was both excited and overwhelmed at the response as the bi-monthly LYN meetings typically drew around 40 RSVPs.

She said the increased engagement reflected a strengthened network of organisations, agencies, and individuals dedicated to supporting youth in Logan, resulting in enhanced referral pathways and comprehensive services for young people's psycho-social and educational needs.

Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) Nursing Director Ryan Zeppa-Cohen highlighted the significance of these connections with community and not-for-profit organisations.

“Networking and information sharing initiatives like the LYN enables us all to deliver more comprehensive care to consumers,” he said.

“A collaborative approach is crucial to the success of a young person’s recovery journey and CYMHS is proud of the strong relationships we have established with other services in the area,” he said.
