Redland Hospital is strengthening its maternity services by providing up-to-date, advanced training in vacuum-assisted delivery, a procedure designed to improve safety and outcomes for mothers and babies.

The training, delivered this month, forms part of Metro South Health’s ongoing commitment to ensuring local families have access to the highest quality obstetric care.

Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Redland Hospital, Dr Premjit Gill, said the program reflected the hospital’s focus on innovation and best practice in maternity care.

“VACCA training enhances the skills of our obstetric teams, ensuring we can offer mothers evidence-based options that prioritise both safety and wellbeing,” Dr Gill said. “By equipping our staff with the latest techniques, we are continuing to build confidence in the care provided at Redland Hospital.”

The hands-on education session was attended by local clinicians, including Dr Karshini Ghanesh, who said described it as a valuable opportunity to expand knowledge and apply new skills.

“Being part of the VACCA training has been an incredibly positive experience,” Dr Ghanesh said. “It gives us the chance to refine our practice in a supportive learning environment and ultimately ensures we can deliver the very best care to the women and families in our community.”
