Bayside Health Service Chaplaincy plays an important role in supporting patients, families and staff at Redland Hospital, often in ways that go unseen.
Working with clinical teams, they provide valuable time and presence to those in need, irrespective of race, religion, culture or sexuality.
"We give an ear and presence, a compassionate presence, and support people without judgement, " Peter said.
Margaret said the role was often about responding to what people needed in the moment.
"Sometimes it's giving families a break, keeping vigil while they make a cup of tea or get refreshed, whatever helps."
Chaplains also support staff during difficult moments, working with them to help them through challenging experiences.
"We just want to make a difference to people in their suffering.
