Redland Hospital's brand-new Transit Care Hub is now open. With its welcoming atmosphere and expanded facilities, the Hub is an important addition for patients and families across the Redlands Community.

The Hub, previously known as the Transit Lounge, has undergone a significant expansion, doubling in size and increasing in capacity from 12 to 19 beds.

Bayside Health Service Executive Director Greg Nolan said the expansion would benefit the entire hospital.

“The former Transit Lounge supported more than 300 patients each month,” Greg said. “The new Transit Care Hub gives us more space and greater capacity to help patients get home sooner, free up acute beds and improve access to care for the Redlands community.”

Director of Nursing and Midwifery Amanda Garner thanked staff working behind the scenes to prepare the space.

“This has been a significant effort across many teams, and we’re excited to welcome patients into the expanded space,” Amanda said.

Staff will complete final commissioning activities in the coming week to ensure the hub is ready to safely welcome patients.
