Not so long ago, Brooke and Hannah were walking around the Nursing and Midwifery Graduate Program Open Day, chatting to staff and wondering where their nursing careers might begin.
Fast forward a year and the pair were back at this year's event, but this time on the other side of the table, sharing their experiences and encouraging the next group of graduates to consider joining the team.
For Brooke, the visit to last year's open day changed everything.
"I wasn't really attracted to renal until the open day," she said. "I met the team, had a look around and thought, what's this all about?"
Now part of the renal team, Brooke says building relationships with patients and working alongside a supportive team has confirmed she made the right choice.
Hannah's story is much the same. Last year's open day helped her decide Bayside Health Service was the place to start her career.
"The open day gave me the chance to explore the hospital, ask questions and meet the team. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly," she said.
Their advice to future graduates? Keep an open mind. You never know where one conversation might lead.
