Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month is being recognised across Bayside Health Service this May, with staff at Redland Hospital and Redlands Satellite Health Centre encouraged to support a donation drive for victim-survivors and their children.
Led by the Domestic and Family Violence High Risk Team, the initiative is collecting essential items including sanitary products, toiletries and basic everyday supplies to support local specialist DFV services.
Senior Social Worker Teneale Rickards said people experiencing domestic and family violence were often navigating some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
“Something as simple as access to toiletries or basic essentials can make a real difference for a victim survivor who is seeking safety from a person who uses violence against them,” Ms Rickards said. “This donation drive is about showing practical support and reminding people in crisis that their community cares.”
Social Worker Jennifer Finlayson said the response from staff each year reflected the compassion of the Bayside community.
“We see firsthand the impacts of domestic and family violence, and the complexities victim survivors and their children face navigating their safety,” Ms Finlayson said.
“Every donation helps local services provide comfort, dignity and immediate support to people when they need it most."
