Patients, carers and staff at Redland Hospital have shared what matters most to them as part of work to shape how Metro South Health partners with consumers and communities over the next four years.

The Bayside Health Service team gathered feedback by walking through the hospital and talking directly with people visiting the campus.

Partnering with Consumers Coordinator Sophie McMahon said the two-hour walk-around enabled genuine conversations with people.

“We heard from people receiving care and working across our services. They generously shared their experiences and ideas,” she said. “Consumer engagement doesn’t always need to be formal. Sometimes the best way to understand what matters is simply to start a conversation."

Feedback from Redland Hospital will help develop the Consumer and Community Engagement Strategy 2027–2030, guiding how communities are involved in improving healthcare.

The team visited areas across Redland Hospital and the Redlands Health Service Centre, including outpatient clinics, pathology, Emergency Department, ICU, allied health, and Macleay Ward.

Questions asked during the walk-around were co-designed by Metro South Health’s Consumer and Community Engagement Strategy Consumer Reference Group.
