QEII doctors have thrown their support behind CrazySocks4Docs Day by stepping out together in a show of funky socks.
Medical Education Officer, Jason Abraham said the initiative aligns with Metro South Health’s commitment to creating psychologically safe workplaces.
“The day is about wearing bright socks to raise awareness and break the stigma around mental health issues,” Jason said.
“Around one in five Australians experience a mental health issue each year and our Resident Medical Doctors and other healthcare professionals aren’t immune.
“We want to normalise speaking out about experiences of depression, anxiety, and burnout. It’s about creating a culture of connection, resilience, openness and support between colleagues at QEII.”
Popular sock designs this year included animal, food, and medical themed prints donated by Miga medical insurance.
A big thank you to everyone who showed up in their best and brightest socks on 5 June in support!
