Meet QEII's 2026 interns

QEII Hospital welcomed 19 new medical interns to its ranks on 7 January, as they gear up for a year of hands-on training under QEII’s experienced medical team.

Their arrival marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the growing hospital, as Metro South Health makes way for 162 interns across its services in 2026.

Therapy dogs Burt and Rene were also on-hand to welcome the new interns to campus.

Among them is Geraldine (front, third from left), who made her medical journey all the way from Venezuela and looks forward to finding her rhythm at QEII.

“Surgical training has always been at the fore of my mind, but I'm keen to try everything. I want to do lots of different rotations and keep an open mind to all of them,” she said.

“I’m excited to get to know the other doctors who started before us, and to learn from them. I just want to absorb as much as I can.”

A warm welcome and best wishes to all our new interns as they embark on their careers at QEII!
