Waste and Linen Coordinator, Kyle Price, has stitched together a career journey from IT and suit tailoring to operational services, where he uses his expertise to keep QEII nursing and operational looking their best.
Kyle was seeking a new challenge when he left his IT job for a sales associate position at T.M. Lewin, a prestigious tailor.
After learning the tailoring business, Kyle started sewing his own creations and became a bespoke suit tailor and business owner.
However, once again he began looking for something new.
“My passion is healthcare,” Kyle said.
“I had been suiting a long time and wanted to move forward.”
Kyle makes sure that patients and staff have all the sheets, blankets, towels and other linens they need every day.
He also completes in-house, free-of-charge uniform alterations for nursing and operational staff. QEII is the only hospital in Queensland Health to offer this service.
“My favourite part of the job is interacting with nurses and operational staff,” he said
“I like that I can help staff help others and help them look their best.”
Kyle says the people are one of the best aspects of working at QEII.
“I miss my night shift team, we were very close knit,” he said
“At least once a fortnight we would all bring a plate and have dinner together.”
Thank you, Kyle, for keeping QEII running smoothly and looking sharp!
