What do you get when you mix regular chats over coffee between our beloved QEII Vollie Stan Belas and the QEII Expansion managing contractor, Built? An electric bike donation of course!
In a heartwarming display of community support, Built Construction Manager Andrew Michael coordinated an e-bike donation to Stan’s annual Christmas Raffle.
It’s one of 58 fantastic prizes up for grabs, including everything from appliances to Christmas hams, with proceeds to support QEII volunteer-driven enhancements around the grounds.
Andrew says the gesture was inspired by Stan’s exemplary dedication to supporting the QEII community, one that spans a quarter-century of philanthropic fundraising efforts.
“Donating to Stan’s volunteering efforts is a small way for us to give back to QEII Hospital and initiatives that helps strengthen the QEII community. We’re proud to be part of the culture of giving at the hospital,” he said.
“It was during the QEII Name the Cranes project—where Stan was honoured with his name on the first tower crane building QEII’s new infrastructure—that I realised the love and respect everyone has for Stan. I have enjoyed my coffee breaks chatting with him and watching him raise valuable funds for causes that matter.”
QEII Director Support Officer Allied Health and Volunteer Coordinator, Amanda Spann says the gesture is a powerful reflection of QEII’s community culture and its impact on the growing hospital.
“This donation is a perfect example of how our QEII Hospital Expansion partners can help amplify the impact of volunteer efforts at a local level.”
