Food Services puts birthday cake back on the menu

In a demonstration of compassion in action, Food Services Manager Letitia Green has coordinated a sweet surprise for patients who find themselves at QEII on their birthday.

"It came to my attention that patients here in the hospital were only getting happy birthday messages on their menus," Letitia said.

"Birthdays are special occasions that only come round once a year, so I thought we could do better. I decided to introduce a new process in Food Services so that each patient gets a red velvet cupcake on their birthday to celebrate as well."

QEII Culture Club Chair Sarah Stormborn said the initiative is an example of living our Metro South Health values.

"Letitia has done a wonderful job of partnering with consumers to make their stay with us just that much nicer," Sarah said.

"Kindness doesn't cost us much but it has a big impact on the people around us. If we can all think about one compassionate action we can take each day to improve the circumstances of our colleagues and patients, the benefits will ripple outwards."

Great work Letitia!
