Medical Education Unit at PA Hospital is stepping up the support and restarting the conversation with Crazy Socks 4 Docs.
Hosted on Friday 5 June, the yearly sock-fest champions doctors, wellness, and supports in place across the hospital for our valuable medicos.
Executive Director of Medical Services, Dr Kellie Wren said doctors have busy working lives and demands on their time.
“Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day is a great reason to get together and remind ourselves of the enormous difference that the support of colleagues and friends can make.
“By wearing our craziest socks, we are prompted to start conversations about wellbeing, challenge stigma and highlight the message that seeking help is a sign of strength,” she said.
The Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery crew began their bonding session early this week proving that any day is a good day to connect with your work family and check in for emotional support.
RMO in Cardiology, Dr Jacinta Youssef said aside from expressing their personalities with colourful hosiery, the medical cohort embrace the opportunity to advocate for mental wellbeing
“No matter how serious work gets, there is always time for fun with funky socks.
“We also embrace other opportunities to make the workplace fun by sharing over coffee and lunch but also grabbing those moments to see the sky or go for a quick walk as part of the workday,” she said.
Friday's activities at PAH included snacks, a smoothie bike and free socks thanks to the sponsors Medibank and QSuper.
