A Clinical Facilitator in bright scrubs teaches a staff member in a hospital room, focusing on patient care and nursing practices
Clinical Facilitator Archie Bhatta

PA Hospital’s Clinical Facilitator Archana (Archie) Bhatta is an exceptional nurse educator who brings passion and clarity to every learning interaction, with her teaching going far beyond the task at hand.

“I want to train staff how to be compassionate and person-centred care nurses because in 5A we have a unique patient focus,” she said.

5A is an Acute General Medical Ward and has some of the most vulnerable patients, including those living with dementia and other cognitive challenges.

For Archie, it’s an opportunity to demonstrate a different type of care.

“I love being a Clinical Facilitator because I can really make a difference, especially by supporting new staff and helping them grow into confident, competent nurses.”

Colleagues and student nurses alike say they admire Archie not only for her clinical competence, but for the way she treats others; with empathy, integrity, and respect.

She embodies the values of compassionate care, lifelong learning, and team collaboration, ensuring staff not only learn the “how” but also the “why” behind clinical decisions.

Archie is also a passionate advocate for expanding the learning opportunities available to all staff, particularly enrolled nurses, and has played a key role in supporting their development in advanced clinical skills such as tracheostomy care and central venous access device management.

Her efforts have improved individual confidence and skillsets while also enhancing the overall capability of the ward.

Archie’s approachable and supportive teaching style has been recognised by those around her, earning her the 2025 Clinical Excellence Award for Nursing at the PA Hospital Health Symposium.

In a testament to Archie’s incredible impact, the acknowledge is certainly no surprise to her colleagues who say she is the kind of nurse everyone aspires to be.

Congratulations Archie, and thank you for exemplifying the highest standards of both personal and professional excellence!
