The Multicultural Health Symposium, hosted by Metro South Health last week, brought more than 250 delegates together for two days of meaningful dialogue, shared learning, and collective action to advance health equity.
Attendees were inspired by keynote presentations and practical case studies, and were able to engage in interactive sessions that highlighted best practice in multicultural health – all with a side of salsa.
With Queensland’s rich cultural diversity, Health Equity and Access Team Manager Brooke Hutchison said the event was a powerful platform to explore culturally responsive healthcare.
“We know that people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are more likely to face barriers to good health outcomes, compared with the community as a whole,” Brooke said.
“It’s important that we work together to ensure that our health system genuinely respects and reflects the needs of the people and the communities we serve.”
By strengthening partnerships across health services, organisations, and communities, the Multicultural Health Symposium reaffirmed a collective vision for a more inclusive, equitable, and responsive health system.
Metro South Health thanks all speakers, contributors, and attendees for their engagement and leadership in driving change – together.
