Metro South Health has reaffirmed its commitment to research and innovation with the announcement of the 2026 Research Support Scheme (RSS) grants.
The 32 grants – totalling close to $3 million – will significantly boost research projects designed to improve patient care and health outcomes across the region.
They were awarded at a special event attended by clinicians, researchers and partners at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) last week.
Speaking at the event, Chief Research and Innovation Officer, Associate Professor Helen Benham, highlighted the importance of research as one of Metro South Health’s six strategic pillars.
“We strive to embed research and innovation into our everyday,” she said.
“This funding will progress important new research projects and collaborations, sustain and grow existing research programs, and facilitate the development of novice and early career researchers across our health service.
“Every insight you discover and share brings us closer to creating Australia’s healthiest community.”
The RSS is Metro South Health’s flagship research grant program and is made possible through the support of its funding partners:
- Metro South Study, Education and Research Trust Account (SERTA)
- PA Research Foundation
- Griffith University
- Queensland University of Technology
- The University of Queensland.
