Sven Marxen A/Director Pharmacy

Logan Beaudesert Health Service (LBHS) Acting Director of Pharmacy Sven Marxen has mixed the perfect dose of dedication and innovation to earn the 2025 William Harris Achievement Award.

This award honours pharmacists who demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation, and commitment to advancing safe and effective medication use. For Sven, the recognition is deeply personal.

“This is a real recognition of my efforts by my peers, and it means a lot,” Sven said.

“I remember some of the prior award recipients, people I truly looked up to and modelled my career on. To now join them as a recipient makes me feel I might have done something right.”

Ever humble, Sven was quick to share the recognition with his colleagues.

“It’s really a recognition of all those I’ve worked with over the years,” he said.

“We succeed because we support each other and that’s what makes our team special.”

Reflecting on his time with the LBHS Pharmacy Team, Sven said there had been many moments of pride.

“I remember patients where we supported great outcomes, even in difficult times, and those experiences really sit at the core of why I do what I do,” he said.

“I also remember the support I received from my leaders, like Sally Dixon and Peter Reeves, and how that has shaped the way I try to support others.”

Looking ahead, Sven said he was passionate about continuing to drive innovation and collaboration across Queensland.

“I think the multi-site mentality, working together across hospitals to improve care for all Queenslanders, is something that truly drives me,” he said.

“I want to keep pushing the envelope in how we use technology, robotics, and AI to give clinicians more time for what matters most - patient and family interaction.”

Sven also credited the leadership within the LBHS Pharmacy Department for fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork.

“We have an incredible team, led by people who really believe in collaboration and progress,” he said.

“If I’ve contributed even a little to that, I’m proud.”
